Data Recovery from Servers
Most organizations store their most important data on servers. Within an office environment, the convention is to have employees share their data over network storage. This ensures that all of the data they create is backed up during the network backup routines and that any employee with the proper access can get access to the data. In some cases, the servers themselves become damaged and this is when it becomes necessary to engage the services of a data recovery firm.
One of the worst situations imaginable is having a server go down in a way that takes a great deal of the data with it. When this happens, a company will hopefully have backups from, at the latest, the night before but there is sometimes data created during the course of the day that would take a great deal of time and money to re-create again. Particularly if you are doing business online in real-time, you may have sales data and other forms of data that are created very quickly that cannot be readily replicated. A data recovery firm can usually get this information off of a damaged server.
Data recovery services sometimes have to physically open up a hard drive, if it is badly damaged, but they can also sometimes get the data by using specialized software and techniques to access it directly off of the disc. When there are damaged sectors on the disk, it is sometimes impossible for regular software to make heads or tails of what is stored on it. Data recovery services use software that can pull the data off of the disk directly and, using their expertise, they can oftentimes reconstruct that data so it is in a form usable by the software that originally produced it and, is therefore accessible to your company once more.
